The tape of a 911 caller who was shaken up after finding a naked Randy Travis lying in the road with no car in sight has been released. "I just found a guy laying in the road," the caller said in a recording released by the Grayson County Sheriff's Office. He added later, "I want to say he had no shirt on, but I don't know."The 911 operator asked the caller, “Do you think possibly he could have had a wreck?” to which he responded “I really am scared. I want to stay in my vehicle.”
The 911 caller did not identify Travis by name and said he at first thought the body belonged to a deer. "I'm spooked out," he said. "I don't see a vehicle, there's a couple of cones scattered."Randy Travis was charged with driving while intoxicated after the country crooner crashed his car west of Tioga, Texas and was found naked and combative at the scene.
Texas troopers responding to the scene said a Pontiac Trans Am registered to the 53-year-old Travis had been driven off the road and struck several barricades in a construction road. He was also booked on a felony retaliation and obstruction charge, said Grayson County Sheriff's Sgt. Rickey Wheeler.
